Yu Yu was born in Qingdao in 1989. In 2013, she graduated from the Academy of Chinese Painting, Central Academy of Fine Arts with a bachelor's degree. She graduated from the Chinese National Academy of Arts with a master's degree in 2020. She is currently working at the Academy of Literature and Art of the Chinese National Academy of Arts. Her works are accustomed to using traditional oriental materials to intervene in contemporary issues, and pay attention to the meaning of the material's own characteristics to the concept of production, forming their own unique expression language and creation view. In recent years, the direction of creation focuses on ecology, gender issues and spiritual crisis treatment, and the works run through their own life experiences, while looking at the new linguistic dimensions of traditional materials. She has held solo and group exhibitions in AMNUA, CAFA Art Museum, CTCM, Pine Art Gallery, Today Art Museum, etc. Her works have been collected by various academic institutions and individuals at home and abroad.
